Brain Injury Rehabilitation for the Black Country

Rehabilitation aims to help the brain learn alternative ways of working in order to minimise the long-term impact of the brain injury. Rehabilitation also helps the survivor and the family to cope successfully with any remaining disabilities.

The Headway Black Country rehabilitation service works with survivors to relearn lost skills, to learn new skills, to develop insight into their condition and to improve confidence and self-esteem. The sessions aim to assist people with brain injury to explore and reach their full potential, enhancing their independence and quality of life. This is achieved through provision of structured groups as part of a day opportunities programme.

We have a video about the work of Headway Black Country in which clients, carers and staff talk about their experiences. We are grateful to the team of young people from the Walsall National Citzens Service who created the video for us. View the video on YouTube.

Our clients work to progress against their individual learning objectives and are supported through regular key working and progress reviews.

We currently offer the following types of activities:

Sessions are planned and led by specialist Learning Coordinators who run the activities with Support Workers and Volunteers. There is a charge for accessing these services.

Examples of the groups we offer are:
