Making a Donation/Giving

Headway Black Country relies on voluntary donations to continue to provide vital services to brain injury survivors and their families. Headway Black Country is independent and impartial. As more people now survive accidents and live with brain injury, the need for our work is growing.

We are responsible for raising our own funds locally, which means that all the money we raise goes directly into our work with those affected by brain injury in the Black Country area of the West Midlands.

There are many ways you can make a donation:
Making a 'one off' donation
Making a regular gift
Donation in Kind
Leaving a gift in a Will
Donating your time

There are many ways to donate and if you are a taxpayer your gift could be worth 28% more. Just remember to tick the Gift Aid box when you fill in the relevant form.

Some of the ways that donations are used are to purchase
or provide:

Items required for activities such as equipment, training materials, craft items etc.
One off items needed such as garden furniture, electrical items, furniture etc.
Publicity Items
Funding towards special projects and services
Funding towards the continued running of services for people affected by brain injury

We are happy to provide details of current specific projects or items that we need funding for and can also attend to give talks to local organisations if this is helpful. You are also welcome to arrange a visit to see what we do and how you can help.

Making a 'one off' donation
To make a one-off donation either Donate Onlineor print off the Donation Form fill it in and return it with your cheque (if appropriate) to Headway Black Country.

Make a donation using Virgin Money Giving

Making a regular gift
Regular donation allows us to plan more effectively for the future. You can donate any amount, either monthly or yearly. To give regularly, please print off and complete the Regular Donation form to set up a direct debit and send it to Headway Black Country.

Payroll giving
Payroll Giving is a scheme that enables employees to give to any UK charity straight from their gross salary (before tax is deducted), and to receive immediate tax relief of up to £5 for every £10 donated. Payroll Giving provides charities with regular, reliable donations, allowing you to plan ahead and budget for the future. Payroll Giving is an easy, tax-effective way to give to charity - so it costs employees less to give more. The system is easy to opt in and out of, giving donors full control over their giving.

Providing that your employer offers Payroll Giving it could not be simpler. You complete a form which is usually obtained from your Payroll Department or Personnel. The form asks you to give the name(s) of the charity or charities you want to support, there is space for you to make more than one choice.

Your employer will forward your completed form to the Payroll Giving Agency( PGA) and deduct from your pre-tax salary the total amount you want to give. Your donation is forwarded monthly to the PGA and they then distribute the gift each month to the charity or charities of your choice.

If your employer does not already have a Payroll Giving scheme in place, don't worry - it's quick and easy to set up. Employers simply need to sign a contract with a Payroll Giving Agency. This is a legal requirement and provides an audit trail for HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) because you are getting tax relief on your gift.

Leaving a gift in a Will
When a will is being prepared and a charity is considered for a legacy it is often difficult to decide which one to support. We would ask you to kindly consider Headway Black Country because it is our endeavour to make life easier and better for the Brain Injured and their families in the Black Country. Leaving a legacy to Headway Black Country, can help provide a brighter future for other families, providing crucial information and practical support to help deal with the often life changing effects of brain injury.

Contact Headway Black Country for a leaflet explaining how to do this.

Donate your time
As well as volunteer helpers working in the services, we also welcome people or groups that may be able to help occasionally or as a 'one off' on specific project. For example this might be to paint a room, gardening or DIY etc. Please contact Headway Black Country (link to contacts) to discuss how your group might be able to help.
